| Case in point-
This week is the week BEFORE CST (big evil state testing) We just started the Cold War Chapter and I assigned Vocab on Monday. Tuesday I assigned one section of notes (They read the section, take note and other stuff). The section is (in a high school textbook) 5 pages long. I gave them half the period on Tuesday, Tuesday night, half the period on Wednesday, and WEDNESDAY night to do this damned assignment.
Normally I give them on period and one night, but I'd rather have them rest a bit and not turn their brains into pudding and have it fall out their ears during testing next week.
HALF of the kids did it on time. About 5 kids PER class (5 classes a day) came up with "excuses".
7 of them told me I didn't give them enough time.
Not kidding. In a normal textbook, college lvl, this would have been like may two pages of reading. Remember, Pub Edu dumbs down everything and puts nice shiny pictures and maps and crap in the book to confuse the kids.
I am so pissed right now that I'm considering caltroping their seats tomorrow. Anyone have a spare box of caltrops? |
